2004...
"a season to remember"
As the 2003 season ended with the
Franklin High Rebels going deeper into the playoffs than any team
in school history, Head Coach Tim Johnson and his staff immediately
began preparation for the upcoming season. Johnson's 2003 team had
just finished the season with an 11 - 3 record after being defeated
by Germantown in the TSSAA 5A Semi-Final game at Franklin's Howard
Gamble Stadium. Germantown would go on to capture the State Championship
the following week. Meanwhile. the 2003 team had firmly set the foundation
for endless possibilities and a future team that believed they could
take it to the state championship.
Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen
began hitting the weight room on a regular basis during the freezing
days of January and February. Coach Johnson and his staff were already
looking into who would fill positions the 2003 seniors had departed.
Many questions were in need of being answered. Who would be the quarterback?
What offensive schemes would the team need after losing a strong passing
game from the 2003 team? How would our defense match up against
strong passing teams?
With the existing players already on board, a
number of new faces started showing up in the weight room. These new
faces wanted to be part of Franklin High Football.
